About 20 years ago I met a collector named Joe Armitage, otherwise known around rusty car parts as "dirtfingers". The first time I entered his basement I wondered what kind of nutcase would collect all this junk. This is just a sickness and then I caught it.
I started buying all kinds of toys and then I bought my first Minnitoy! It seems that I have a special attachment to these Minnitoy trucks. Minnitoys represent a form of Canadian history centered on the companies most visible during my childhood.
I grew up on a Saskatchewan farm and I still remember the North Star oil truck delivering fuel. The North Star Oil Minnitoy is no doubt one of my favorites, and I have yet to find one of these Minnitoys in mint condition. I suppose this is the fun of collecting –The Hunt!
